The distance from the lens mounting flange to film plane on the M cameras 1mm less than on the LTM cameras. Rangefinder camming is the same for both, thus when the adapter is threaded onto your LTM lens it simply 'attaches a bayonet' and sets the proper lens to film plane distance. There are 3 different adapters, each one brings up a different set of framelines in the finder. If you send the codeword I can advise which one you are looking at.
