Ansel Adams' book "The Negative" has a section on selenium toner being used
to intensify negatives. His negative for "Moonrise Hernandez" was
intensified in the foreground with selenium toner. It was badly
underexposed when he couldn't find his light meter. He based the exposure
on the moon, and the foreground was badly underexposed. You'll find the
intensification really helped. It's a gorgeous print when he does it.
