There are many areas of endeavor where this artist / non artist issue arises.
It really becomes a definitional issue.  What is the definition of an artist
one wishes to use.  

To me the issue is irrelevant.  It is what it is and the label does not
matter.  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, as the Bard would say.
