Hi Christian,

It's MHO, that both Canon and Nikon are merely in "a gizmos war" for the
dollars of unsuspecting amateurs and pros, with all the high falutin
thingimebobs that 99% of photographers either can't understand nor ever
use.

Yes I love and "have to use a motor drive" due to only one eye. And yes I
have been ticked off that Leica didn't supply my R8s with motors, however
they will be here and for the time being I use my motor driven R7's when a
motor situation is required. No big deal. I'm sure Leica are well aware of
lost sales due to not having motors available when the camera came out, but
many of those will be recovered when they are.

As far as Leica "not capable nor keeping-up" I don't think that's the case
at all. Does Ferrari attempt to "keep-up with GM?" Hell more Nikons and
Canons are probably turned out in one month than a year of R8's. So what!
I'll take "quality and simplicity" over volume and a million widget
thingies which includes a two hundred page instruction book to operate.

Quite frankly it's a big money making scam to con photograpers into buying
because they have all these computer driven bits inside to operate the
"correct value" for an exposure. But all that stuff doesn't make the
picture any better, nor the exposure any more correct, if the photographer
doesn't understand what the hell they are talking about in the their
volumous instruction manual.

I just shot umpteen dozen rolls on assignment and every frame's exposure
was right on the mark perfect with an R8, and I did nothing but look
through viewfinder, like what I saw and shoot! How much better can you get
than that?

<<<In most respects Leica just couln't keep up with the rest. And this is
not a trend but a tradition with them.>>>>>>

That maybe the case in your eyes. However, I prefer the construction
methods of Leica, Ferrari, Porsche, RRoyce and other "quality
manufacturers!" :) And I'll take Leica's method any day over the others!

While Canon and Nikon have re-twidddled the model in your hand, just as you
think you have learned how to make it work, while still constantly
referring to the instruction manual, they've added more thingis's and
telling you, "the old version isn't as good as the new!" Because you need
the new updated version that can make you a cup of coffee on the side while
you are shooting.":)

I wondered if you were aware Leica sales by percentage have surpassed the
others by a wide margin since the R8 came out? Even without the motor
available! So I guess they can't be all bad. :)
