I don't actually know a single professional photographer that uses a UV filter... for anything, except for perhaps a drink coaster.) I can only humbly oblige the request and finish the lecture. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hate to jump into this ridiculous discussion but as a professional for 30 years, every lens I own, including the 6x7 equipment that almost never leaves the studio, carries a B&W UV filter. Shooting mostly chromes, I've run tests and I can tell you that even with modern Leica lenses, filtering the UV makes a big difference in overall color and no difference in contrast or sharpness. And, better to get cleaning marks on the filters and throw them away than on very expensive front elements. Paul
