It was not a matter of their not correcting any problem. The manufacturers' engineers at the launch site tried to get NASA to postpone the launch until the temperature increased to a level that was safe. The NASA Administrator vetoed their request, and launched. Reagan's talk was scheduled and would take place that night. Charlie
