Irrational reasons, as far as I know. Leitz had a good
reputation till the M4, M5 and SL2. The same is true for "made
in Germany". As long as today's rare "Wetzlar", rare "Midland" or
"Canada" were usual tools which everbody could buy, no one
cared. Later the collectors levels were generalized onto the
gear.

The judgement that i.e. "made in Canada" lenses are of less
value shows it's absurdity, when you take in mind, that the
1-version 2/90 Summicron was calculated, produced in Canada,
and remained unsurpassed for 23 years. Even the current, 2-nd,
version is hardly "better". Further, I made my best experiences
with the 2/35 Summicron made-in-Canada version, and let's not
forget i.e the 1.4/75 M Summilux or Noctilux.
