And mine's still on the bottom of my M6, which I got in the mid-eighties.  I 
decided to leave it there until it fell off, and it hasn't gotten around to 
doing that yet.  Yeah, it's a little tacky, but it also supplies some measure 
of scuff-protection.  Can't hurt.  Doesn't matter much either way.
