I think this is not true for all batteries.  The Px625 should have
longer shelf life in the refrigerator.  Freezing is supposed to be
possible but I have never done that.

The alkaline battery folks say refrigeration is not necesary for
alkalines, and I think tests show they are correct.  But I have never
read any tests on mercury batteries.
