I owned an LS-20 for my first scanner 2 years ago, then upgraded to the
LS-1000 a few months ago and have seen HUGE differences in my output.
It is definitely worth the $1300 for the LS-1000 if quality if of great
importance to you.

I have heard though, that the Polaroid 35 Plus is even better at capturing
shadow detail than the LS-1000, which amazes me.......there is an article
in this issue of Leica Fotografie (1/98) on 35mm scanning, and they review
the Polaroid scanners quite favorably.
