Subject: Re: [Leica] Minolta CL and CLE lenses

The CL-lenses are of the same quality as other Leica lenses. The somewhat
slow F/4,0 is due to the fact that it was a lens meant for the Leica CL. The
CL rangefinder is (because of the smaller body size) not as accurate as the
M rangefinder for the fastest M-lenses or tele lenses. The F/4,0 gives
larger DOF (margins) for the 90 mm. Another design goal was to produce a
compact 90 mm lens, suitable for the CL camera. (A slower speed allows a
more compact size)
(Imagine how compact a 75/2,8 lens could be, if ever Leica decided to
produce one).
