Elliot,

I think what's happening is the R8 meter and 400 film are trying to get you
an "available light exposure" and setting a slow ebough shutter speed to
record the exisiting light where you are shooting.

If this is the case, just go onto "T" time instead of of "A" or "P" and set
the time to a higher shutter speed, any that will be high enough to under
expose the existing light up to and including 1/250.

If you use 1/250, you'll surely eliminate the ambient light and have only
your flash lighting the subject. And the "yellow cast" should be gone.

Notice I said should be gone! :)  If you still get it under this fully
flash lighting get back to me and we'll go from there. Hope this helps.
