The Summicron is still the "best" 50 mm, and better than
the Summilux since 40 yrs. If you compare the 50 mm lenses
between f 2 and 8 (and specially at f 4), the Summicron is
more sharp and shows a more pleasant color/ grey tone
rendition. The Noctilux is less sharp than both lenses, but
manages large contrasts easily (which allows very special
pictures), and shows a very pleasant out-of-focus rendition
(similar to the coll. or rigid chrome Summicron between f 2
and f 4).

Different the asph 35 mm lenses: Here the Summilux is
extremely sharp at f 1.4 already, more sharp than the
pre-asph Summicrons between f 2 and f 4, but not the
first choice at f 5.6 or above. The asph Summicron is
almost eaqual or better than the Summilux between f 2
and f 8. At infinity, the pre-asph Summicron is superior
to the asph Summilux at all f-stops (in my experience).
