Subject: [Leica] 50mm Noctilux and 90mm Elmarit

The original f/1.2 Noctilux of 1966 had six elements in four groups; this
was changed in 1976 to an f/1 design with seven elements in six groups.
There has been no further optical reworking, though the lens mount has been
redesigned to accomodate an inbuilt hood.

The 2.8/90 Elmarit does not have an aspherical element. It is quite
unlikely that Leica would redesign one of their newest lenses when the
optical performance of the Elmarit is so stunningly good.
