At the risk of sounding like one of the "me too" crowd, let me endorse
Carl's approach.  I had the same work done on an M3 several years ago &
never regretted the conversion.  What prompted the work was a shoot during
which the (expletive deleted) converter would repeatedly loosen enough to
break contact at inopportune times.
