Amazingly, using the shutter in the slower speeds actually results in
improvement of performance.  I have an M2 which is rarely used, and when I
pick it up after several months, the 1 sec speed is more like 1/100th.  After
8 or 10 cocking/tripping of the shutter, the speed reverts to the proper
performance.  Darndest thing I've ever seen!
