Yes, it would be the logical thing to do, and I have got second-hand M
equipment that way. The big problem though is that if you import it
personally, it is taxed for import duty on the retail value in dollars
(16-20% tax) and that new total is then taxed for Value Added Tax at 14%
more! The courier charge to South Africa adds another +/- $150 onto the
price. So, conservatively if the item costs $1000 in the US, the first tax
takes it to around $1160, the second tax takes it to around $1322. Add the
courier and it's $1472 !!
