I actually found the fax reply today, I was wrong about the price, it was 
$2,900!
Still it had been 'carved' out of a camera...
There was a shop in London selling of aerial cameras with 38mm Biogons in 
them for 125GBP last year, I was tempted to get one and 'hack' it out, but 
the shutters were electronic and what would I have done with it anyhow...
Probably mounted on a Leica M as a architectural lens!

Jeremy Kime recounts seeing a 15mm Hologon in M mount for $2,700!  Oh, if
you ever see another, grab it!  These guys normally sell in the $6,000 and
up range.
