Matthew - go ahead and use your M5. While it is slightly larger than a
standard "M" - if you like it ---use it as too many were made for it to ever
 become a rare collectors item -- 23,150 black & 10,750 chrome. Prices
are at an all time high for it now, for no special reason since it no longer
is the only "M" with a meter. However I do know of a chap that bought 2
new M5s; a black one to use & the chrome to put away for an investment.
Now would be a good time to sell your M5 only if you wanted to replace
 it with a M6.

 Greetings
I need some advice. For a few years now I have been using a Leica M5. I
like the camera very much and have been very pleased with its performance.
Lately, however, I have heard that M5 prices are going up as they become
more collectable. I would conservatively rate the M5 at mint-, with only a
couple of v. small marks near the hinge on the back. I am primarily a user
and not a collector. Am I putting a "collectors piece" at risk by using it?
Should I sell/trade the M5 and get something more recent? I am leaning
toward an M6 because I like to have a built-in meter avaliable when I want
it. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
