as far as I know, all M's have the shutter brake.  basically the same
design.

it should be metal, if its not,  someone has changed the backdoor

what later VF/RF system? as far as I know, all M cameras have basically
the same design with minor changes such as magnification and
framelines.  past storage conditions and shocks to body have a lot more
to do with potential future failure than the design itself.
