Subject: 50 mm SM lens

With  reference to the ongoing thread of "Leica glow" / "bokeh"  I'd like to
use an older 50mm  SM lens with adapter on my M2 and M3 to see if I can
reproduce the feel of some of the older photos.  I've heard some good and bad
things about the 
1.5/50 summarit.  What  other options would I have for this focal length?
  Would be interested to hear of any favorite older lenses -- mostly for bw
film of course.
