Subject: M VF Magnifications & RF Accuracy

Per noted Leica repair whiz Sherry Krauter (Viewfinder 28:2, Second Quarter
1995, p. 8), the magnifications of the Leica M viewfinders are:

M3/MP 0.91
M2 to M6	0.72
M6J 0.85

However, the M's to the M4-2 had a 68.5mm baseline for the rangefinder,
while the M4-P and M6 have a longer baseline of 69.25mm and the M6J
68.85mm. Thus, the EFFECTIVE baseline is:

M3/MP 62.3mm
M2 to M4-2	49.3mm
M4-P and M6	49.9mm
M6J 58.5mm

Thus, the M3/MP would inherently be the most accurate, followed by the M6J,
the M4-P and M6, and then the rest.
