Dear Kent -

Your Leica s/n 167965 was originally a Leica Standard or E. made in 1935 and
had no RF or VF. It has been factory upgraded to a model III by the addition
of a range-finder & viewfinder. The Elmar lens was also made about
1934 or 1935
and would therefore be uncoated.

In its original state as a model I (E); in the condition you describe, it
would be a
collectible camera worth about $650, but as a common model III - only half
that.
Collectors consider the camera to be what it is upgraded to - rather than
what
it was originally, original state Leicas are usually more desirable than
upgrades
