Cost is probably more >if insured as "professional". > >Gary Todoroff Cost is quite a bit more if insured as a professional. Fireman's Fund writes a lot of insurance for professional photographers. The basic policy covers all equipment against theft and other loss, portfolios, provides one million in liability, and a small amount for computers and such. This can be had from several brokers and the premium does vary with the amount of equipment you want to cover. Right now I'm paying approx. $750 per year (this covers about $12,000 worth of equipment). With a big studio operation this would obviously go up considerably. BTW, floater policies written for home owners and renters generally have a clause which renders the insurance invalid if the equipment is used for business, something you want to check out carefully if you're not a full-time pro but are making money from stock.
