The price was $199. I did some shooting this weekend along the Delaware and Maryland shore. With the wide variety of people and dress, walking up and down the boardwalk sometimes reminds me of attending a circus. Varieties of body piercing and tatoos seem to be everywhere. Fortunately the hyperfocal distance on the 28 Elmarit and my new 35mm Summilux Asph make only setting the aperture something I have to deal with when the lighting changes. I use the Multi-Pro from Gossen and the small Pilot Selenium meter (that has limited sensitivity but doesn't require a battery). Both meters have sliding opaque diffusers that slide over the meter opening for incident readings. I'm hoping the the new Sekonic will be small, easy to use and accurate. I too have come to depend upon the reflected meter in the M6 for providing exposure information. It seems easy enough to just make the two triangles equal brightness and shoot only to find the the focus is right on but the exposure is just a little bit too bright or too dark. This is not so much a problem with Tri-X but when shooting transparencies - a 1/2 stop can make or break a photo. I'm not thrilled about having to carry more spare batteries - but if the Sekonic meter is small and sensitive enough, I'm likely to use it more often. And that should mean better photos.
