Be wary: UPS, FedEx, and Purolator, will NOT insure 'unique items' --
items no longer in production which carry a serial number -- going outside
the US. These companies will take your insurance payment but, if a claim
is made, it will be, 'oh, too bad! We never should have insured this!'

I was warned of this by my UPS delivery guy -- he suggested I start calling
UPS and track it down. Took me two and a half hours before I worked up the
UPS chain but, yes, they finally confirmed that they will NOT insure a
'unique item' going overseas. FedEx and Purolator also confirmed this
policy to me.

Postal insurance limits are determined by individual treaty but, generally,
are high enough to cover the cost of what I am shipping. A couple of times
I've had to run risks, but nothing ever turned up lost or broken, so my
luck held.

And then there's the time I got my mother to smuggle cameras for me, but
that's another story for another day -- I have to go visit her now, and you
know how prisons are about visiting hours!
