I fully agree Jeff. Too often people get caught up in owning a thing just
for the sake of owning it.

The most enjoyable thing for me during my career as a photographer has not
been any of the cameras I have owned, it has been the places they have
taken me, the exciting things I have seen. Finally, and most improtant to
me, the people I have met while shooting their photographs. I have made
more friends, and have experienced more professions than most people have
even heard of, all with out watching TV!

Get those cameras out of their boxes and start using them for what they
were made for. Create some images then go make some more, all the while
talking to the people you meet along the way and find out what life is
about on the other side of the shutter. Don't be afraid to talk to the
subjects in your photos you'll find out they are just like you no matter
how rich, or poor they may be.(unless of course you shoot secnics, but if
Mt Rushmore does say something back PLEASE let us know what it said)

After all what you miss may very well be the best experiences of your life.

Concerning the profession of photography a friend of mine who worked for a
competeting paper in Atlanta described photojournalism best. He called it
"The Game". He said that: (1) None of us really worked for a living, we
got paid to play (true), (2) We all competed agianst each other to an
extent, but mostly agianst ourselves (true), (3) Some days you got the best
photo some days the other guy did -i.e. you win, he wins (true) and finally
(4) It is almost always fun and when not fun it is at least exciting
(almost always true). So if you have the choice to work or play the game
what are you going to do.

I gotta go tip off tommorow comes at sunup--Gosh who had to make majic hour
so dam early!!!!
