All I have it the chrome ring with the two button clips for attaching it to
the lens, and a thin black metal ring that screws into threads on the front
of the ring.  Maybe you are right, the drawing in the Guide seems to show
something black in between the main ring and the thin 'retainer', though
it's not clear.

Oh well...something to hunt down at the next flea market, along with the
leather case for the eyes.
