It will look exactly like the M6, except that instead of "M6" being on the front, it will be "M6-P" instead. All functions will be exactly the same. It's purpose, again those close to Barnack, confirm that this camera's launch will be a testament to the fact of the Leica Rangefinder being as fully developed as it will ever get. However it order to satisfy collecters and those who are comfortable with the current M6, Leica finds it neccessary to give the impression that it will continually come up with new models. This applies especially more to collecters, since they hardly handle or use their cameras, and will not notice any practical difference, instead they will be more than satisfied that what they have "collected" is the latest Leica M model. Leica also says that this innovative approach to their marketing will mean that everyone will be satisfied, including the company itself. Machines that will engrave the subsequent legends of the new models( M7, M8,M9, M10, etc) on the top-plates, are already in place, and are much cheaper than developing new models. Leica plans that the revenue earned will be put to the latest division of the Leica camera group, "Dangerous and violence inducing firearms Division", where R&D will begin on their latest series of handguns for the entire family. HCB has promised to appear in advertisments endorsing the new products. - ------------ So what do you think, brilliant news for Leica and gun lovers alike, only from "Guns and photography".
