My way of checking the meter accuracy is to point the camera or meter at a lightbox. My M6 is then used as the reference. I am very comfortable with this method. I developed the method, because my experience indicated that my various meters and cameras were within +/- 1 stop. By using the light box, I discovered that they were off by only +/- much less than 1/2 stop. My conclusion was that metering off of scenery is not a good test, because different meters have different fields of view and construction. There are probably other factors of which I am not aware.
