Over the Christmas holidays my brother-in-law pulls out an old army rucksack full of old cameras and ask for my help in identifying them. The rucksack was full of some classics (I think) and I'm sorting through them now. Here is where I need your help. I'm fairly new to this whole Leica thing... been shooting M's for the last year... just got a new M6 before Christmas and I don't know much (anything?) about LTM Leicas. I'm looking at what I think is a Leica III c (serial number 424360) with a Summitar collapsable lens (serial number 622182). Is this a Leica III c?.. how can I tell?.. what year was it produced? It's in a leather case, and besides some dust and grime seems to be in great cosmetic shape... no scratches, dings, etc. Lens looks great too... dust and crime, but no scratches, and no fungus or seperation from what I can tell. Would DAG be a good place to have the outfit CLA? Sorry for so many newbie questions, but I'm sure there are more to come. In the rucksack is also a Ziess-Icon 120 camera of some sort, a Kodak Retina II, an old Minolta SLR, and a tiny Mamiya camera that shoots 16mm film. Any advice/info will be appreciated, Scott King Austin, Texas jscottyk@ix.netcom.com p.s. - I shoot a roll of the E100S and E100SW (as well as a roll of HP5+) through the new M6 on Christmas day. I agree with ,/8^| ...this film is great! I was nervous about trusting the meter in the M6 (I had been using a handheld w/ my M4-P) but everything turned out fine! The "Measuring exposure with Leica M6) of a few weeks ago proved to be very helpful.
