For those of us with Web access, the best and perhaps least biased source for such information can be found at the following Web site: http://i31www.ira.uka.de/~klaus_s/lenses.htm This site gives the test results from several respected European magazines, as well as Pop Photo. There are summary pages of the world's best - and worst - - lenses. It comes as no surprise that Leica lenses do very well indeed, as to a lesser extent do Zeiss, Canon, and Nikon primes.
