Subject: 90 mm lenses

The discussion of 90mm lenses is interesting, but confusing. The "weight"
of opinion appears to indicate that the 2.8 Tele-elmarit is a reasonable
lens. I have an older rigid 4.0 Elmar 90mm which has the advantages of
small size and very reasonable cost although the obvious disadvantage of
rather slow speed. I have been thinking of "trading up" to a tele-elmarit
as they are compact and affordable. How do the newer 90mm lenses compare in
terms of image quality to the older f4.0 Elmars? Is the difference
marginal--would it take a very large enlargement to see it--or would it be
obvious in an 8X10? I use the 90 a great deal and would appreciate any advice.
