The effective metering area for the M6 is a circle (centered) equal to 2/3
of the vertical measurement of the brightline finder of the lens being used.

You should call Leica and get a manual for your camera, if not get ahold of
the current sales brochure - a lot of information can be had from the sales=
 lit.
