I'd be fascinated to hear responses to this too, because I'm trying to find something to carry my new screw-thread gear. I have what I think is a 'fanny pack' (this, incidentally, has a rather unfortunate translation into UK English, where persons of a male persuasion are not normally possessed of fannys) which I used with my Canonette GIII, but it's only just large enough for a III body, lens and a few films, and I'd like one just a bit bigger, so I could take one or two additional lenses. The trouble is that anything significantly larger, and with adequate padding, seems to say "HELLO EVERYONE, I'M A CAMERA BAG!", and - after the recent experiences of our friend with the muggers - that's not something I find acceptable. At the moment I'm improvising with ordinary bags and bubble wrap, and looking at those little 'Zing' bags with drawstrings, but it's fiddly. Does anyone have a line on 'stealth' camera bas? Billingham will custom make anything you want, at a price (though they're not expensive in the UK, I gather they carry some form of special 'duty' when imported into the US, something to do with cotton imports), which is attractive. My usual problem with Billingham is persuading myself that I don't want the largest one they make (for my serious SLR kit), though I must get a new one soon (before the RAC Rally, in fact). Any recommendations would be most welcome. dmorton@cix.compulink.co.uk | "The loss of an old man david@cassandra.compulink.co.uk | is like the destruction Kilburn, London, England. | of a library"
