I had a beautiful red dial IIIf with a 50 mm and (if I remember correctly) a 35 mm elmar. I bought it for next to nothing in about 1973 from a camera store here in Green Bay that was going out of business. Alas a year later it was stolen from my room in a pension in Bogota' Colombia. It was wonderful to carry. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the general imprecision of the viewfinder with its relatively undefined frame. In fact, the universal finder that came with it was preferable because the frame was sharply defined by the blackest of borders. I came back from Bogota' very much hooked on rangefinders and used the insurance money to buy a Nikon SP. Later I bought an M3, and have used that for 20 years as my camera for serious work while doing ethnographic research. Sometimes I think about that little red dial and wish I still had it. I'm new to the list and am enjoying the discussion.
