 It's a 70-180, so it's even MORE of a rip-off! :-)

I stand corrected!

First of all, let's get this into perspetive. It's selling for $5,900 - not
$6,500. I'm sure that's small comfort, but compare it to say what it
replaces.

Moss quotes $6,500.00 in his editorial. Actually, I think that $5,900.00 was
the original "street price" (whatever that means), but recently Leica raised
the MSRP to $6,500.00 to give the dealers a little breathing room. I am
repeating the essence of Moss's editorial; I do not have personal knowledge.

Actually, I suppose the price is all a relative thing. If people are
willing to pay $6,500 or $65,000.00 or $650,000 or $6,500,000.00, what the
heck, it's a free country....more power to 'em.

I happen to think, however, that at some point there will be a point of
diminishing return where the consumer will say "enough" and the top will be
reached. Obviously, though, that point has not been reached.......many of
the responses to my original comments have been along the lines of "Gee,
dummy, don't you know the best always costs more.....If you don't like it,
just buy the cheap junk and quit blithering."

Some can afford to have that attitude; most cannot.
