Joel, 

If you had a new slide you liked and made a dupe, both the dupe and the 
original would deteriorate together. The dupe would not last any longer. 
And if you attempted to dupe it on Kodachrome, the result would be a 
contrasty mess. Only the use of low contrast dupe films gives anywhere 
near an acceptable result.  And if you waited until your original was 
fading, it would be too late to save it with a new dupe. 

I do not see how such a system would work at all.
