They're slow, and still, in my experience not as good as the primes. I thought about the wideangle and 90mm Tamrons, but have not gotten around to it. I'm certain they're good optics, but then--how good? I asked the P.R. person for Tamron for a loaner, to find out. She said I could borrow one, but it never arrived, so I gave up. One thing that has always bothered me about "off-brand" lenses is that although they test out good when new, no tests are ever made later on to see if the zooms wear out and the others develop play, etc. I know how my Leitz lenses, Contarex lenses (20 years old) and minolta lenses perform after much time. Still going strong. I wonder. Ed Meyers
