In defense of the good doctor, there is a sense in which the M viewfinder 
does show some perspective error compared to an SLR lens. When close 
focussing, the small difference in position between the lens and 
viewfinder does cause a difference in the relative locations of near and 
far objects in the viewfinder vs. the lens. Some folks have learned to 
move the camera up and to the left a bit to move the lens to where the 
viewfinder was to compensate for this. It's really not exactly what we 
were discussing before, but it's worth noting.
