Isn't this procedure you describe a lot more complex than whipping out a pocket knife and doing the trimming in a trice? Others have recommended it to me -- but I've just never had trouble trimming the film, and it only takes a second. Also, the LTM lens book proofs are due here in a couple of weeks.
