The M3 is a terrific camera, and should be quite moderately priced. The last one I bought (c. 3 years ago) was a SS for USD 700, but that included a 35 Summilux(!). (You never know what you'll find for sale at the used counter in small town camera stores!) Even without that kind of outrageous fortune, it's not too hard to find good used bodies. I have 3 of the several varieties, one of them a DS with a self timer -- so if you want an M body with a self timer, that's a feature to keep an eye out for. I too occasionally use an M3 with a 35, using the full view window as a general guide -- but I wouldn't even consider it a good guess with anything wider. Is the camera a good backup for the M6? I think so -- right not both my M6 and M4-P are getting minor repairs, and I have no problems with the M3. And yes, get the quick load kit!
