The C&O Canal runs 184 miles along the eastern shore of the Potomac river from Georgetown in Washington DC to Cumberland, MD. I photographed it every week for years as part of a project I gave myself to document its many moods and seasons, Here is what Swain’s lock looks like in the spring.
