We started our trip with a visit to the Dalles Mountain Ranch in the
Columbia Hills Historic SP on the Washington side of the Columbia
Gorge. It was our first visit there and thought this was not a great
flower year, I was impressed. It was a dreary day, but Mt. Hood was
still visible in the distance across the Columbia. Here are some shots
from that part of our trip.

We hiked a portion of the loop trail, as much as our knees would allow
and time permitted, as our destination for the first night was Silver
Falls State Park in Oregon that was still 3 hours away.
The Balsam Root were nice, if not as abundant as I have seen in other's
photos from past years.

We also walked around the historic ranch a bit.
