Greetings to all.  I went down to the farming communities surrounding
Schulenburg, TX.  Schulenburg invited the railroad in so it remains a
viable town.  In any case this area was settled by Czech and German
immigrants starting around 1855.  Once established they built schools then
churches.  If you remember your European history, that part of Europe
remained Catholic after the many wars.  The next three images provide some
insight into the artistic expression put into their churches:

These churches now only have about 60 families as members, however the
greater community supports them at their annual auctions.  Last year a
watermelon went for over $500.
