The EV1 is a wonderful camera for an M user.  The files are M11 files which
mean great color, very low noise, stupendous dynamic range especially in
the darks.  I routinely underexpose 1.5 stops to hold highlight detail and
can get great information in the blacks.  I have found after a week or so
how to manage the focus aids for me; the ability to focus at the point you
are interested in directly is a game changer.  Not to mention the greater
utility of 90+mm lenses and 28 and wider.

Downsides, this is a Leica: you should invest in at least one additional
battery and an external charger.  From off to fully on is about 4 seconds
which is intolerable for an M shooter.  You will set you camera to never go
to sleep and leave it on; battery life is OK but maybe two to three hours
of continuous shooting in that mode.  I have used a cell phone charger to
top off my battery during use but a second battery is more convenient.

Overall, I am very happy with the arrival of this camera.  I don't think
that more pixels is needed, I don't think that image stabiization is
needed.  I do think that adding in the capability to use a visoflex with
articulation would be a good direction for those who occasionally would
like to shoot over their head or at ground level and still use an M format.
