Hi Nathan,
I haven't been to Cyprus for a long time (25 years) but even then the
beach resorts were sterile, but the atmosphere was probably more edgy
than now because of the de facto partition of the island, even though it
was thirty years earlier.
The architecture, mosaics, frescoes and paintings are marvelloous,
though. They are the ones I would choose from here. I can't fix of one
to give a "+1" to but it would be among the photos in and around the
church.
I found the cat and wine bottles in Vouni was funny, for what reason I
can't say. I also noticed the "ER 1954" under the tap. From the British
occupation of the island, perhaps?
All the best,
Peter

I was there for work, a meeting of the heads of IP offices from all 27 EU member states, so most of the time I was “imprisoned” in a somewhat sterile beach resort a few km outside the city. The place was nice enough, but I would have preferred somewhere closer to the centre so that I could have explored Limassol on my own early in the morning, as I often do when travelling. But this was not possible on this trip. We did have one afternoon and evening of sight-seeing, including a visit to an important archeological site called Kourion, and a village in the interior of the island which makes its living off tourists, both foreign and domestic (day trippers from Limassol and Nicosia). A small gallery is here:
