I spent a couple of days in Latvia’s capital Riga earlier this week, speaking at a conference organised by the Latvian Patent Office. It was a really short trip: I arrived at my hotel in Riga just before midnight on Monday, and left for the airport at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Still, I did manage to enjoy the city a bit, and a small gallery is here:

Whenever I travel to the Baltic countries, I am impressed by the spirit of the people, having only regained their independence from the Russians 34 years ago, and by the progress they have made in the two decades since they joined the European Union.
