The last week of September began in Poland, where I visited a quirky and artsy neighbourhood in Wrocław called Nadodrze before flying home to Alicante. In Alicante, I had the monthly book club meeting, this time discussing a Dutch novel called The Assault, and lunch with friends at Hostal Maruja. At the end of the week I tried surströmming, a Swedish fermented herring considered one of the most stinky foods in the world. It’s all here:
