Murcia is a city about 100 km south of Alicante. It is somewhat bigger than Alicante with almost 700,000 inhabitants in its metro area (in Alicante we are about 470,000). For some reason, despite living in Alicante since 2007, I have never properly visited Murcia. Earlier this month this changed, since one of our friends here, a fan of Simply Red, took the initiative to organise an outing of about 15 of us to see them in concert in Murcia on August 4th. We spent the night at a local hotel, which gave me the opportunity to explore the centre of Murcia on foot, just the way I like to enjoy a city.
